![]() Think back to all the trips, falls, and tumbles taken learning how to walk, run, as a toddler, and while growing up - injuries with competitive sports or motor vehicle accidents. The repetitive injuries experienced in the past and currently are bending forward, spending too long period of sitting very much so in an uncomfortable position such as school chairs, office chairs, cars, and falling asleep in airplanes, cars, or lounge chairs. We have created a “flexion world”. It begins with our lifestyles of being students from about 5-18 years old (and possibly more) sitting for 8 hours, 5 days a week in school chair regardless of homework and studying time. When school is over the flexion world trauma continues in the work force: driving to work, sitting at work, driving home from work and all that stress from that process daily persists into lounging at home, sleeping in a flexion posture, doing exercises that create flexion...not to mention the overall dominance of hand held technology and computer usage. All the above mentioned creates stress on the spine leading to what a Chiropractor principally evaluates, the SUBLUXATION. We are no longer living in a “extension world” as true human beings: walking and running long distances upright, squatting instead of bending forward, constantly moving and in a more functional manner…all this has changed over a short time in history. Environmental changes that have normally taken many generations to happen are now occurring within single generations even within years. Dr. Hodges’ approach primarily through Gonstead Chiropractic reduces these effects and helps prevent future damage from occurring and thus you the ability to EXPRESS FULL HEALTH POTENTIAL. Without the spine at optimal health - pain, dysfunction, and disease follows. The above examples of reoccurring long-standing trauma of daily life with mixed in injuries and their consequential compensations causes the spine and other joints at risk for dysfunction. If dysfunction is long-standing, the effects can me minor as achy and stiffness pain but as major as degeneration, organ failure, further injuries, and how we interact with our surrounding people and daily activities or goals. Don't let the problem become worse. Get checked! (below is a article link demonstrating the consequences of flexion to the disc) ![]()
